Our Rabbi

Rabbi and Mrs Pink joined us in January ’94. At the time Rabbi Pink was the youngest communal Rabbi in the UK. He was educated in Manchester, then continued his studies in Israel. He was ordained as a Rabbi and Sofer (scribe) by a number of Rabbinical authorities. During his studies he spent several months running a community deep inside the former Soviet Union..

Rabbi Pink is a founder member of the Birmingham Rabbinical Board and is currently it’s Chairman. He also serves as Prison Chaplain to six prisons and is the Hospital Chaplain of the Heart of England NHS Foundation Trust, he sits on the Executive Board of the Solihull Faith Forum. He has lectured at Birmingham University and has given several talks on the BBC World Service. He also runs classes for local University students. He is also a regular columnist in the local Solihull News.

He is the founder and convenor of the West Midlands Jewish Medical Ethics Forum and has recently founded the Solihull Jewish Business Ethics Forum. Rabbi Pink has been awarded a MSc in Health Care Ethics and Law from the University of Birmingham, his studies were sponsored by the UJIA..

Mrs Pink trained as a teacher at the Beth Rivkah Teacher Training College in New York, where she grew up. She ran children’s camps in Atlanta, New York State, Rochester and Minnesota. She also taught for four years in New York before moving to England. She chairs the Solihull and District Hebrew Congregation Ladies Guild, teaches in the Cheder, organizes activities for young children and plays an active role in Shul affairs.
During their time with us, they have expanded the Cheder, initiated a host of adult education programmes and social activities. Under their stewardship, the community has doubled in size and has greatly expanded its activities. Rabbi and Mrs Pink also run the highly-successful, twice-yearly day-camp for children up to teens, which is attended by children from all around the West Midlands.

Rabbi & Mrs Pink have four children, Rivka, 8, Avrohom Yitzchok, 6, Chanoch, 4, Mendel, 1, who already take an active role in shul activities!
