Candle Lighting Guide

Light the Menorah each night of Chanukah.

All members of the family should be present at the kindling of the lights. Family members who are sleeping away from home should light the Menorah at the place they are staying for the night.

If you are unable to the light the Menorah, for example you are traveling by plane. Ask a member of your household or a friend to have you in mind when they light the menorah.

First, light the Shamash - the additional candle which is used to light the others.
